Just a note to let you all know what is happening at Shepley this year.
As many of you already know James McKinlay (Mac), my husband and fellow festival director died in November 2017 after living for 6 years with inoperable pancreatic cancer. You might then understand that as I nursed him in his last months last year and am coming to terms with living without him I just don’t have the time, or sometimes the will, to get Shepley Spring Festival up and running for 2018.
My large extended family and friends from across the country are very supportive and I do need to have something to do with my time so for 2018 I am planning a Shepley Spring Minifest.
This will be a very scaled down event, comprising just a couple of concerts in the Village Hall on Friday 18th May and Saturday 19th May.
There will be no campsite, food outlets, festival bar, dancers or family events this year. If you wish to come along from further afield then you will need to find your own accommodation or local campsite.
I think two things are essential for a successful event, good music and good company. I have invited some great performers and am anticipating you will come along to create the atmosphere.
As you know Shepley is a lovely little village set in open countryside on the edge of the Peak District National Park. I look forward to meeting up with some of you there soon.
